Case Study: Fun at the Lake

FUN AT THE LAKE, is a lakeside vacation rental on Barbee Lake owned by host Barry Mosher. Barry reached out looking for a way to take more control of his bookings through a direct‑booking website—one that would reduce reliance on third‑party platforms, cut booking fees, and make it easier for returning guests to book directly. He wanted the site to feel welcoming and trustworthy, while still feeling familiar to anyone who had booked a vacation rental online before.

FROM TOUR

TO VISION

This project kickoff began at Fun at the Lake itself, where we toured the property with host Barry Mosher and heard his vision for a site that felt as welcoming as the cottage. Hearing Barry’s goals firsthand helped shape the creative direction from the start. We developed six logo concepts and a visual identity inspired by the cottage, the shoreline, and the relaxed pace of lake life. From the color palette to the typography, every decision was grounded in creating a brand that felt warm, approachable, and memorable.

BUILT TO
BOOK BETTER

With the brand established, we designed and built a custom website focused on clarity and ease of use. After researching common vacation‑rental booking flows, we created a layout that felt intuitive and familiar, while still being uniquely Fun at the Lake. The site includes a robust photo gallery, amenity icons, a map, guest reviews, and multiple calls to action that guide visitors toward checking availability or reaching out with questions. Special attention was given to the booking calendar and inquiry process to ensure it worked smoothly for both guests and host.

MORE THAN
A WEBSITE

To add value beyond booking, we researched the surrounding Barbee Lake area and built a page highlighting local grocery stores, restaurants, attractions, and practical resources like nearby hospitals to help guests plan the perfect stay. We also worked with Barry to create a password-protected guest portal that holds all the essential stay information, including front door codes, Wi-Fi details, and checkout instructions, so guests always have what they need in one place.
